Entrepreneur Background

Rahul Tyagi and Samiksha Yadav are Season 4's most taboo-confronting hygiene founders. They identified a problem that affects virtually every Indian woman but is rarely discussed in public, family, or even medical conversations: the health risks of washing undergarments with regular detergents. Conventional detergents contain harsh chemicals (sulfates, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances) that can disturb the vaginal pH balance, cause itching, rashes, and urinary tract infections when residue remains on intimate wear after washing. Samiksha's "I am the CEO" moment became one of Episode 23's most empoweringly assertive female founder declarations. When Peyush Bansal questioned the team dynamics, Samiksha did not hesitate or defer: she clearly stated her role, earning immediate praise from the S

The Product / Service

Ugees is a plant-based undergarment liquid wash that replaces harsh regular detergents for intimate wear cleaning. The formulation uses 100% biodegradable surfactants and IFRA-certified mild allergen-free fragrance to clean, disinfect, and deodorise undergarments in 30 to 40 seconds without leaving chemical residue that can cause pH imbalances, rashes, itching, or infections. The 30-to-40-second wash time is Ugees' most convenience-differentiated product feature: regular hand-washing of undergarments requires soaking, scrubbing, and rinsing over 5 to 10 minutes. Ugees' concentrated formula eliminates the soaking step entirely, making daily undergarment washing as quick as washing hands. This time efficiency addresses the specific behavioural barrier that prevents many women from hand-washing intimate wear separately (it takes too long), leading them to machine-wash undergarments with other clothing (which is less hygienic).

Pitch Presentation

Rahul and Samiksha walked into Season 4 Episode 23 with the most intimately important hygiene pitch of the season. They opened with the health statistics that every woman recognises but rarely hears addressed publicly: harsh chemicals in regular detergents damage undergarments, disturb pH balance, and cause itching, rashes, and urinary tract infections. The product demonstration showed the 30-to-40-second cleaning process: applying Ugees to a stained undergarment, brief agitation, rinse, done. The speed and effectiveness visibly impressed the Sharks, who examined the packaging and product design quality, commending the founders for thoughtful presentation. Namita Thapar validated the category most powerfully by declaring that "vaginal infections are a huge problem for women," providing the medical endorsement that Ugees needed from the Shark who is also the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals.

Sharks' Reactions & Criticism

Namita Thapar validated the market most powerfully: "Vaginal infections are a huge problem for women." She jointly offered ₹50 lakhs for 6% equity with Aman. Aman Gupta joined Namita's offer at ₹50 lakhs for 6% equity. He recognised the consumer product branding opportunity but lost to Anupam's more founder-friendly terms. Peyush Bansal appreciated the concept but opted out. He delivered the most strategically actionable advice: partner with lingerie brands the way shoe polish companies partner with shoe brands. Ritesh Agarwal appreciated the product but opted out, finding the personal care FMCG category outside his hospitality expertise. Anupam Mittal initially questioned whether a specialised wash was necessary, but was convinced by the medical arguments and revenue traction.

Negotiation & Offers

Season 4 Episode 23's most hygiene-category negotiation. Founders asked ₹50L for 2.5% (₹20 crore). Peyush and Ritesh exited. Namita plus Aman jointly offered ₹50L for 6% (₹8.33 crore). Anupam offered ₹50L for 5% (₹10 crore). Founders negotiated Anupam down to 4% (₹12.5 crore). Founders chose Anupam's 4% over Namita plus Aman's 6%, saving 2% equity dilution while securing a Shark whose consumer platform scaling expertise was applicable. The valuation dropped 37.5% from ₹20 crore to ₹12.5 crore.

Final Verdict

Rahul Tyagi and Samiksha Yadav accepted Anupam Mittal's offer of ₹50 lakhs for 4% equity, valuing Ugees at ₹12.5 crore. Anupam's Shaadi.com consumer platform expertise (reaching millions of Indian women through digital channels), his understanding of female consumer behaviour, and his willingness to negotiate down from 5% to 4% demonstrated the specific investor flexibility that founder-friendly deals require.

Beyond Shark Tank

Ugees continues expanding India's first undergarment wash category post-Shark Tank. The brand's revenue trajectory (₹63 lakhs to ₹1.75 crore to ₹4.5 to 5 crore projected in three years) demonstrates accelerating product-market fit in a category that Ugees literally created from scratch. The Shark Tank national broadcast achieved the most significant public health awareness outcome of Episode 23: normalising the conversation about undergarment hygiene on prime-time television. Namita's "vaginal infections are a huge problem" declaration, combined with the product's visibility to millions of viewers, potentially influenced more women to reconsider their undergarment washing habits than any medical campaign could achieve. "Ugees has carved out a unique space in personal hygiene and FMCG, providing an essential solution to a widespread problem."
