Entrepreneur Background

Siddharth Gupta is Season 1's most technically trained and most harshly treated founder — a 28-year-old mechanical engineer from Jammu who was rejected by IIT at 17, earned a full scholarship to RWTH Aachen University in Germany (one of Europe's most prestigious technical universities), returned to India committed to solving everyday problems through product design, built 11 inventions with 3 granted patents before age 28, and walked into Shark Tank India's most openly hostile panel reaction of Season 1 with the same calm that characterised his entire pitch. "I was always intrigued to create things, to invent them right from my childhood. That is why I wanted to become an engineer. When I was 17, I was rejected from my dream IIT college, but that day I committed to myself that I will not let a name of a college determine my future." Siddarth Gupta is the Founder, CEO and Chief Engineer of SID07 Designs. He did his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and MS from RWTH Aachen University.

The Product / Service

Sid07 Designs is a product design and innovation company — building a portfolio of patented everyday-life improvement products across multiple categories, with the flagship product being the Drill Duster (a dust-collecting drill attachment that protects eyes and lungs during drilling operations), alongside desk organisers, portable cups, domestic hydraulic tools, and power tool accessories — all designed to be indispensably useful, completely sustainable, and globally accessible. The Drill Duster addresses a universal and genuinely unsolved problem for anyone who has ever drilled into a wall: the shower of plaster, concrete, or brick dust that falls into the eyes, nose, and mouth. Professional drill attachments for dust collection exist in industrial contexts but are large, expensive, and impractical for household use. The Drill Duster is a compact, affordable, consumer-grade sleeve that attaches to standard drill bits and collects dust before it disperses.

Amount Asked: ₹47 lakhs Equity Offered: 10% Implied Pre-Money Valuation: ₹4.7 crore

Pitch Presentation

Siddharth's pitch was the third and final of Episode 21 — closing the episode after Get-A-Whey's sampling-driven Three-Shark deal and The Quirky Naari's personalised fashion presentation. He walked in — in Aman's memorable description — like a bearded man from a James Bond film, with a drilling machine in hand. He came in a black and white shoot with a drilling machine in his hand, a bearded guy, and reminded everyone of James Bond. Siddharth explained about his vision and products and placed his pitch for an amount of ₹47 lakhs for 10% of the company, valuation ₹4.7 crores. The product demonstrations — showing the Drill Duster in action and the desk clipper — were the pitch's most honest moments. The Drill Duster demonstration was compelling: a clean, simple product that solved a clear pain point. The desk clipper demonstration was less successful: Vineeta immediately recognised it as something she already had at her office.

Sharks' Reactions & Criticism

Ashneer Grover delivered Season 1's most openly hostile Shark commentary — and the most widely quoted. Ashneer lashes out: "Are you an inventor or a businessman? I am an inventor, the founder said. Anupam Mittal focused on originality concerns. Anupam said that his inventions are copycats and added that it's not a business but a tinkering lab. With that comment, he decided to go out. Vineeta Singh exited but offered one of the pitch's few genuinely encouraging departures. Vineeta decided to go out but appreciated Sid for inspiring people that there is life beyond IIT. Sharktankindiaclub Aman Gupta used the Three Idiots reference — comparing Siddharth to both Phunsuk Wangdu (the visionary inventor) and Chatur (the bookish achiever) simultaneously. Peyush Bansal was the pitch's sole anchor of genuine empathy and commercial vision. "I like the guy. He's a hustler and that's what this business needs," Peyush said, betting on Siddharth's execution more than current numbers.

Negotiation & Offers

Peyush says: "If you give me assurance that you can focus on one single product for 1–2 years, I will give you a problem. You invent." He agrees. Peyush extends an offer: ₹25L for 75% equity plus ₹22L debt (funding all future inventions). Aman jumps back in and puts another offer: ₹25L for 65% equity plus ₹22L debt. The deal feels like a job — Aman says so. The founder accepts Peyush's deal.
