Entrepreneur Background
The Maloo sisters, who are first cousins, were raised together in a close-knit joint family in Ahmedabad. Born just 15 days apart, they have been each other's best friends since childhood. While Ananya worked as a marketing professional in the entertainment industry, Anushree headed business operations for a modular kitchen company. The idea to start Nuutjob came from watching the men around them struggle to find a worthy solution to maintain good hygiene. This was also combined with the fact that male hygiene is less talked about. The Better India Specifically, they live in a joint family and because of this, they get to use the washroom very late — and that observation of men's hygiene realities in a shared living environment gave them direct, daily insight into the problem. The duo conceived their business idea during the lockdown in 2020, spent around one year doing extensive research and testing products. "We bootstrapped around ₹5 lakhs as an initial investment for the business"
The Product / Service
Nuutjob is India's first dedicated male intimate hygiene brand — a range of products specifically formulated for the sensitive skin of men's intimate areas, addressing the daily challenges of heat, sweat, friction, odour, and irritation in India's tropical climate. Nuutjob focuses on the root cause of the problem: heat, sweat, and daily grinding. It serves a bunch of products including Nuutwash, Nutfresh, and Nutliquid. Nuutwash is 4-in-1 — it can be used for nut, butt, body, and hair wash. Nutfresh helps to clean and moisturise the private area of males. It is a made-in-India product, free from talc, aluminium, and parabens. It is gentle on the genitals. The usage is a three-step process: first wash, then moisturise, then deodorise. BizzBucket All of these products are sulphate and paraben-free, and contain natural ingredients like lavender essential oil, aloe vera juice, and activated charcoal powder.
The Ask
Amount Asked: ₹25 lakhs Equity Offered: 5% Implied Pre-Money Valuation: ₹5 crore
Pitch Presentation
The opening moments deployed humour with surgical precision. The founders opened by describing what men experience "down under" in India's summer heat — the itching, chafing, sweating, and odour that results from inadequate intimate hygiene care — in a manner that was frank, funny, and completely unapologetic. The Sharks, who had seen nearly 30 pitches by Episode 10, were visibly entertained and immediately engaged. The product demonstration was clear and clinical: Nuutwash (the 4-in-1 cleanser), Nutfresh (the intimate deodorant), and the moisturiser, a three-step regime that addressed the complete intimate hygiene cycle. The formulation philosophy was articulated precisely: no harmful chemicals, natural ingredients, pH-appropriate for sensitive skin, and specifically reformulated for Indian climate conditions after testing found US market formulations inadequate. Namita said that in a country where buying sanitary napkins is a taboo, it is amazing to build up courage and come on TV
Sharks' Reactions & Criticism
Namita Thapar offered the most culturally contextualised appreciation: "In a country where buying sanitary napkins is a taboo, it is amazing to build up courage and come on national TV and promote these particular products." Anupam Mittal expressed genuine admiration and pride. All five Sharks saw the potential. Ashneer Grover and Anupam Mittal made the first combined offer: ₹25 lakhs for 25% equity — significantly more dilution than the founders had asked, but reflecting their assessment of an early-stage brand with only 500 units sold. Peyush Bansal, Aman Gupta, and Namita Thapar then formed a competing coalition, offering ₹25 lakhs for 20% equity — the same capital at lower dilution. Hearing the second offer, Ashneer dropped his equity from 25% to 15% Tians Lab — now offering better terms than the Peyush-Aman-Namita group.
Negotiation & Offers
With two competing coalition offers , Ashneer+Anupam at ₹25L for 15%, and Peyush+Aman+Namita at ₹25L for 20% — the founders faced a counterintuitive choice: the three-Shark group demanded more equity but offered three mentors; the two-Shark group offered better equity terms but fewer advisors. After a brief discussion among themselves, Ananya Maloo and Anushree Maloo decided to accept the second offer from Peyush Bansal, Aman Gupta, and Namita Thapar. Their rationale was that having three mentors rather than one would provide diverse perspectives and valuable guidance for their growing business.
Final Verdict
Final deal = ₹25 lakhs for 20%, implying a ₹1.25 crore
