Entrepreneur Background

Prince Thomas, Ajith Sunny, and Ranjit Behera are Season 4's most cricket-obsessed gaming founders from Bengaluru. They recognised a universal Indian truth: millions of Indians love cricket but cannot play it regularly due to busy schedules, lack of friends available to play, insufficient space, or simply growing older and losing access to cricket groups. MetaShot was born to solve this: bringing the physical experience of batting (actually swinging a bat) into any living room through mixed-reality technology. "For many, the love for cricket fades as they grow older, often due to busy schedules or the lack of friends available to play. The founders of MetaShot recognised this and created a way for people to engage in cricket anytime, anywhere."

The Product / Service

MetaShot Smart Bat is a sensor-enabled cricket bat that converts real physical batting strokes into on-screen gaming actions, creating a mixed-reality cricket experience that is simultaneously a physical activity (swinging a real bat) and a digital game (seeing your shot in a virtual stadium). Unlike purely digital cricket games (where you press buttons on a controller), MetaShot requires actual physical batting technique: a cover drive swung with the Smart Bat appears as a cover drive on screen, a pull shot creates a pull shot, and a defensive block looks like a defensive block. The mixed-reality positioning is MetaShot's most commercially distinctive technology: it is not purely virtual (like EA Cricket on PlayStation) or purely physical (like backyard cricket). It occupies the specific middle ground where physical movement creates digital results, making it simultaneously a gaming device and a fitness tool .

Pitch Presentation

Prince, Ajith, and Ranjit walked into Season 4 Episode 18 with the most physically interactive gaming demonstration of the season. They set up MetaShot on stage and had the Sharks play an actual cricket match using Smart Bats, with their shots appearing on the screen in real time. Watching billionaire investors swing cricket bats in suits on national television created the exact viral content MetaShot's marketing strategy thrives on. The viral metrics stunned the Sharks: 60 million views on the first promotional video and 16 million Instagram views demonstrated that MetaShot had already achieved the consumer awareness that most Shark Tank companies pitch as future potential. The ₹10 crore revenue in the first year (₹1 crore monthly) and 18,000 Smart Bats delivered validated that viral views converted into actual purchases.

Sharks' Reactions & Criticism

Kunal Bahl admitted confusion about the business model and stepped back. Aman Gupta was uncertain about long-term scalability. Peyush Bansal initially offered ₹80 lakhs for 2.5% equity but withdrew when the founders dismissed his suggestion to pivot product positioning. Vineeta Singh delivered the pitch's most strategically valuable advice: position MetaShot not just as a gaming device but as a fitness tool, expanding the addressable market from gamers to health-conscious consumers who want physical activity through entertainment. Anupam Mittal saw the intersection of gaming, sports, and fitness as a massive market opportunity. He co-invested with Vineeta, bringing Shaadi.com's consumer platform scaling and digital marketing expertise.

Negotiation & Offers

Season 4 Episode 18's most capital-generous two-Shark deal. Founders asked ₹80L for 1.5% (₹53.33 crore). Peyush offered ₹80L for 2.5% then withdrew. Vineeta proposed ₹50L loan plus ₹30L at 10% for 3 years. Anupam and Vineeta jointly revised to ₹1.6 crore for 5% equity (₹32 crore valuation). Founders accepted. They received 2x their original capital ask (₹1.6 crore versus ₹80 lakhs) at a 40% valuation markdown (₹32 crore versus ₹53.33 crore), with two strategically diverse Sharks providing consumer platform scaling (Anupam) and fitness-gaming repositioning expertise (Vineeta).

Final Verdict

Prince Thomas, Ajith Sunny, and Ranjit Behera accepted the two-Shark deal from Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh at ₹1.6 crore for 5% equity, valuing MetaShot at ₹32 crore. The deal brought Shaadi.com's consumer platform scaling methodology (Anupam) and SUGAR Cosmetics' consumer brand positioning and fitness-gaming repositioning expertise (Vineeta) into India's most virally proven mixed-reality cricket gaming company.

Beyond Shark Tank

MetaShot continues its explosive trajectory post-Shark Tank. The company received an additional ₹2 crore investment from KITVEN (Karnataka state government's alternative investment fund) in June 2025, structured through convertible debentures, further validating the business at institutional level. "There are plans to increase the offline footprint and place the product on online channels and present on Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart. We see in our long-term growth and visibility offline will play a big role and complement the growing online distribution," COO Ranjit Behera shared. The long-term vision extends far beyond cricket: once established in the cricket gaming market, MetaShot plans to expand into tennis, table tennis, and baseball using the same sensor-enabled bat technology.
