Entrepreneur Background
Vineet Saraiwala suffers from a condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, wherein vision reduces progressively with age. At the time of the pitch he had 10 percent vision in his right eye and zero percent in his left eye. His brother has the same condition. Despite this, both brothers cracked the CAT examination with the support of three dedicated teachers and joined IIM Bangalore one of India's most competitive postgraduate institutions. He pointed out that there is a 7 crore population of disabled in India but the employment rate is a meager 0.4%. After IIM Bangalore, Vineet worked in the corporate sector for six years and during that time helped over 500 persons with disabilities find employment through individual advocacy. During the pandemic, when many people were laid off, he received a flood of queries from disabled individuals asking for jobs. He recognised that no organised platform existed to systematically connect persons with disabilities to meaningful, dignified employment

The Ask
Amount Asked: ₹30 lakhs Equity Offered: 1% Implied Pre-Money Valuation: ₹30 crore
Pitch Presentation
His opening: "Is nazariya more important or nazaar?" In Hindi, nazariya means perspective and nazaar means eyesight. The wordplay communicated everything: that a visually impaired man was about to demonstrate that perspective matters more than sight, that a person who cannot see had built something worth seeing, and that he was asking the country's most successful entrepreneurs to look past disability and see opportunity. Vineet spoke about his IIM journey, why he started Atypical Advantage, the impact he has created so far, and why nazariya (perspective) is more important than nazariya (eyesight). He was clear in his pitch that he does not want any pity or special treatment for the disabled. His only vision is to have equal employment opportunities for all sections of society.
Sharks' Reactions & Criticism
Anupam Mittal made the first formal offer, proposing ₹30 lakhs at the previous round valuation of ₹7 crore, implying 4.29 percent equity dilution. Aman Gupta was genuinely moved and commercially convinced. He asked if he and Namita could join Anupam's offer, which Anupam accepted. Peyush Bansal was the most personally invested Shark. Peyush Bansal wanted to invest solo in this deal because this cause is close to his heart as his sister is also disabled. Namita Thapar co-invested with Aman. Her Emcure Pharmaceuticals background, which includes employing persons with disabilities across its large workforce, made her the most institutionally aligned investor for Atypical Advantage's corporate client base. Vineeta Singh exited after seeing the multiple strong offers on the table and believing Vineet already had excellent options.
Negotiation & Offers
Anupam offered ₹30 lakhs for 4.29% equity at ₹7 crore valuation, with Aman and Namita joining. Peyush offered ₹1 crore solo for 12% equity. Vineet countered with ₹1.2 crore for 10% equity wanting all four Sharks. Anupam proposed a restructured coalition of ₹45 lakhs each from Peyush and Anupam plus ₹15 lakhs each from Aman and Namita. Peyush rejected this. Both Peyush and Anupam exited. Aman and Namita offered ₹30 lakhs for 3% equity at ₹10 crore valuation, ₹15 lakhs each. Vineet accepted this offer.
Final Verdict
Vineet Saraiwala accepted Aman Gupta and Namita Thapar's joint offer of ₹30 lakhs for 3% equity, with each Shark contributing ₹15 lakhs, valuing Atypical Advantage at ₹10 crore. Although the deal did not formally close post-show, the national visibility, the Shark endorsement, and the overwhelming public response created enormous commercial momentum for the platform.
